About Andrew (he/him)

Welcome! I’m Andrew, and I’m excited to share a bit about myself with you. As a dedicated therapist, my goal is to create a safe and compassionate space where you can explore your thoughts, emotions, and life challenges.

Therapeutic Approach

I believe in a collaborative and client-centered approach. My role is to support and guide you as you navigate your own path to healing and personal growth. I use a blend of mindfulness and compassion-based techniques, DBT, and psychodynamic approaches to help you understand and address the root causes of your concerns. My goal is to empower you with the insights and tools you need to lead a more fulfilling life.

I’m also deeply passionate about helping you explore the narratives and stories we pick up from childhood and our cultural surroundings—whether from parents, family, teachers, or media. These influences can shape our beliefs and values, but they might not always align with what’s truly important to you now.

I’ve found that becoming aware of and mindful about our current needs often reveals a mismatch with these old, subconscious scripts. This misalignment can leave us feeling disheartened or out of sync. I’ve felt this tension personally, especially when I became a dad, and I understand how challenging it can be to navigate these conflicting messages. My goal is to support you in aligning your life with what genuinely matters to you today.

Personal Philosophy

I approach therapy with a deep respect for the individuality of each person. I am committed to listening without judgment and to working together to build a meaningful therapeutic relationship. I value honesty, integrity, and empathy, and I strive to create an environment where you feel truly heard and understood.

Background & Qualifications

I hold a Master’s Degree in Social Work from California State, Northridge, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in California and Connecticut. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with a diverse range of individuals, each with their unique experiences and stories. My professional journey has equipped me with a rich toolkit of therapeutic approaches, including Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC).

Beyond the Office

When I’m not working with clients, you’ll likely find me enjoying long walks and playing with my kids, chatting with my wife about the wild adventure of raising them, or tidying and organizing our home (yet again!). I also love reading non-fiction, daydreaming about cooler weather and the holiday season, and embracing all things hygge (hyoo·guh)—that cozy, comforting vibe. Living in California’s stunning Central Coast region, I make the most of its many perks: spontaneous beach days, vibrant farmers’ markets, and free live concerts in downtown San Luis Obispo and local parks.

I feel incredibly grateful and proud to support others through my work. I truly believe in the value of maintaining balance in life and am always seeking ways to grow both personally and professionally.
